What's Happenin' ? at the Chinese Garden these days?
Some summer weather has hit, providing opportunities for photographs under cloudless skies.

Standing at the SE corner, with the peony garden to the right and Knowing Spring Courtyard to the left. Note Pine and Plum Pavilion peeking out at the end of the peony garden, and Seattle high-rises on the horizon.
The Welcoming Garden sign-stone stands out, as well as the well maintained planting bed beyond, ...
…thanks to the work of dedicated volunteers, such as Wayne Prochaska.
There has also been some heavy lifting volunteers, such as Mike (and his cute front end loader) and Jon (directing traffic) putting our surplus rocks from China to work….
…so they can become stones along the pond, or ….
…a circle of stones to sit on and take in the Grand View from the hillock.
The days have also been marked by the summer solstice, the sun rising in the extreme northeast...
…bringing sunlight onto Song Mei Ting's north elevation, ...
…and casting her shadow on the adjacent bamboo grove.
Looking across the pond, with sun on the north elevation of the Waterside Pavilion and Zhengmen, take note of Song Mei's "top knot" on the white wall between the two.
The Main Gate's north elevation and ...
…the Encircling Corridor's west elevation have new shadows at this time of year.
The east side of the Courtyard is evenly illuminated by the light "bouncing" off the west wall, and ...
…there trees along the west wall cast deep black shadows, almost as tall as the trees.
And, back at the "campfire circle", the center rock almost aligns perfectly with a shadow between the two northeasterly stones. Later that center stone will be stood vertically and we will have a sundial!
